As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for a wide range of projects. You will analyze project plans, specifications, and other relevant documents to determine the materials, labor, and overhead costs required. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring that our bids are competitive, comprehensive, and aligned with client expectations and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead. Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to determine scope and requirements.
- Bid Preparation: Develop comprehensive bid proposals, including cost breakdowns and detailed justifications. Ensure all bid submissions are complete, competitive, and submitted within deadlines.
- Risk Assessment: Identify and assess potential risks and uncertainties associated with projects. Provide recommendations for mitigating risks and addressing potential challenges.
- Budget Management: Collaborate with project managers and clients to develop and manage project budgets. Monitor costs and provide financial forecasts throughout the project lifecycle.
- Vendor and Subcontractor Management: Solicit and evaluate bids from vendors and subcontractors. Negotiate terms and prices to ensure favorable conditions and cost savings.
- Market Research: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, market conditions, and pricing. Conduct market research to ensure estimates reflect current material and labor costs.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and comprehensive estimates. Provide support and guidance during project planning and execution.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of estimates, including calculations, assumptions, and supporting documentation. Ensure all documentation is organized and easily accessible for review.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve estimating processes and methodologies. Implement best practices and contribute to the development of standard procedures.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Estimator, PMP) are an asset.
