Position Overview
A respected law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Patent Attorney to join its team in either Rochester or Buffalo, NY. This role focuses on patent prosecution with a particular emphasis on clients working in optics, chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering.
The ideal candidate will have at least six years of relevant patent law experience and demonstrate strong skills in analytical reasoning, legal writing, client communication, and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage patent prosecution cases across multiple industries.
- Draft and review patent applications and responses.
- Advise clients on IP strategies, portfolio development, and protection.
- Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
- Collaborate with colleagues and clients to deliver high-quality legal services.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Minimum of 6 years of patent prosecution experience.
- Background in optics, chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering.
