A leading healthcare organization is seeking a senior-level Director of Benefits to lead the strategy, design, and execution of comprehensive employee benefits programs.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and administration of employee benefits programs, including health, welfare, and retirement plans
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations (ERISA, IRS, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, etc.)
- Oversee vendor relationships including consultants, brokers, actuaries, and third-party administrators
- Collaborate with HR leadership to align benefits strategy with broader Total Rewards initiatives
- Evaluate and enhance benefits offerings to remain competitive and cost-effective
- Develop and track metrics to assess program effectiveness and ROI
- Partner with HRIS and IT teams to improve systems, automation, and employee experience
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to the benefits team
- Serve as escalation point for complex benefits issues and process improvements
- Support communication strategies to ensure employees understand available benefits
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience managing benefits programs, including design, implementation, and compliance
- Direct experience within a healthcare environment
- Strong knowledge of retirement plans (401(k), pension, 403(b)) and health & welfare programs
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and driving strategic initiatives
- Experience working with HRIS systems
